This dashboard highlights the trends in research and innovation investments within the EU28 and allows comparison between different sources of investment, i.e. European Commission contributions (via the framework programmes FP7 and H2020), government outlays and business expenditures. The years covered are from 2007 to 2016. The information can be filtered by year, country and sector of activity.
Users can answer questions such as:
- How investments in the HEALTH sector compares to those in AGRICULTURE for EU 28, or for any other
European
country?
e.g. for EU28 the government expenditure shows that investment in HEALTH reaches 34% whereas in
Agriculture is of max 10%. The EC Contribution in these sectors (framework programmes) stays at 15% and
17%
respectively, whereas the Business sector allocates very little, not even 1%.
- How investment for a given sector compares for two countries of EU 28?
e.g. Energy sector in Belgium and Germany received the same amount of approx. 17% in European Commission
Contribution but
if we look at the government budget for ENERGY, it was of max of 5% for Belgium of and 9% for Germany.
- How the investment in the ENVIRONMENT sector evolved along the years?
e.g. For EU 28, even if the percentage of investment stayed constant for all sources of investment at 16%
for EC contribution, 4.5% for Government expenditure and 0.25% for Business expenditure, the amount of €
invested doubled for European Commission Contribution and Government expenditure.
